Experience visual tranquility. Gavin Jackson’s architecture is serene, restrained and imbued with a rich poetic depth. Deeply rooted in the tradition of the visual arts, his material precision and rigorous simplification create environments free from sensory bombardment, excess and distraction. Contemplative yet always comfortable, this is not monasticism but sensual calm.
This balance in Jackson’s work is achieved through something more profound than the transience of fashion; it requires a change of attitude and a deep desire to simplify. An architect that thinks like a sculptor, his process of stripping away the non-essential reveals forms, planes and surfaces that resonate with the rhythm and proportional beauty found in nature and art. His work is as much a dialogue with the heritage of Judd and Serra as that of Euclid and Fibonacci.
Jackson’s exhaustive eye for detail delivers an experience that is neither austere nor bland. Indeed, he creates canvases against which the activities of life can unfold with effortless clarity and comfort. The visual presence of his work conceals his mastery of cutting edge technology, materials and construction, all brought discreetly to the service of the user.
Throughout the process of design and construction, the clients needs are paramount, not the architect’s ego. In the creation of these precisely made, flexible and imaginative spaces, the hand of the author is felt with the gentlest of touches.

CV
Gavin Jackson BA (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA
Gavin Jackson was born in Yorkshire, England in 1960. Inspired to pursue architecture from an early age, he enrolled at the Hull School of Architecture at 16. Here he studied building and mastered hands-on, all the essentials of the trade. To add philosophical skills to the practical, Jackson then went to Oxford, where for seven years he studied architecture and developed his passion for rigorous simplification that was to become the driving force of his future work.
Qualified and Registered in 1986, Jackson gained solid commercial experience working for retail clients such as Nicole Farhi and Harvey Nichols, and as an in-house architect for a development company, before joining Norman Foster. In 1989, he consolidated his position at the forefront of minimal architecture by working as a consultant to both Claudio Silvestrin and John Pawson. Having worked on high profile projects throughout Europe and America, Jackson’s growing client base led him to set up his own practice in 1996.
Attention to detail and strong client relationships have allowed Jackson to build a body of work consistently high in quality. His pursuit of an architecture that seeks a dialogue of simplicity between nature and the visual arts continues to attract a growing range of clients with broader needs from a widening geographical base.
